Video & Image will be considered on the following themes:

  1. Cataract (no age limit)
  2. Refractive Surgery (no age limit)
  3. Other (under 40 YO only)

-Video Competition-

Submission Guidelines

  1. All domestic and international attendees registered for the 2025 Annual Meeting (June 13–15, 2025) are eligible to submit entries for the competition. 
  2. Should include submitting the title.
  3. The video must not exceed 5 minutes in duration.
  4. There are no restrictions on the subject matter; however, videos related to surgical techniques and the management of complications with significant educational value are especially encouraged.
  5. Any identifiable patient information must be obscured in the video.
  6. To align with international conferences, all videos must be presented in English.
  7. To ensure fairness in the preliminary round, the video must remain anonymous and avoid revealing any identifiable information about the submitter.
  8. Videos may include narration and background music.
  9. The video aspect ratio should be 16:9 (landscape).

Competition Process:

  1. Submission: Participants must complete the registration form and submit the video abstract by Friday, 2 May 2025, 23:59 hrs (GMT+8).
  2. Preliminary Round: All submitted videos will be anonymized and reviewed by a judging panel composed of members from TSCRS and GYO. The list of selected finalists will be announced between 12-15 May, 2025.
  3. Final Round: Finalists will present their submissions at the Annual Meeting on June 15, 2025, from 15:10 to 17:10. The final round consists of: 

A 5-minute video presentation, A 5-minute oral report (covering key video highlights and educational significance), A 5-minute Q&A session with the judging panel

The winners will be determined by the judging panel and audience voting.

  1. Attendance Requirement: Finalists who are unable to personally present their work must designate a representative in advance. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.

Video Competition Awards: (All winners receive a trophy)

  1. The Winner: TWD 20,000
  2. First Runner-up: TWD 15,000
  3. Second Runner-up: TWD 10,000
  4. Best Popularity Award
  5. Best Potential Award
  6. Best Creativity Award

(International registrants are eligible to apply for Travel Grants, which will be awarded based on the highest score in the abstract evaluation.)

 
– Image Submission –

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Should include submitting the title.
  2. The image must include a word file describing it. Please limit the number of characters to 100.
  3. There are no restrictions on the subject matter; however, images related to surgical techniques and the management of complications with significant educational value are especially encouraged.
  4. To align with international conferences, all descriptions must be submitted in English.
  5. The maximum size of image should not exceed 12 MB.

Each registered delegate may submit a total of one entry, meaning they can only submit one item, either a video or an image.

Image submission Awards: (The winner receive a trophy)

(International registrants are eligible to apply for Travel Grants, which will be awarded based on the highest score in the abstract evaluation.)

All submitted works will be reviewed by a judging panel composed of members from the Taiwan Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (TSCRS) and the Global Young Ophthalmologists (GYO) Alliance. The panel’s decision is final.

Note: TSCRS reserves the right to the final interpretation of the competition rules and may make necessary adjustments before the competition.

Summit Information

The 3rd Global Young Ophthalmologist Summit will take place in Taiwan from June 13 to 15, 2025, in conjunction with the 20th Taiwan Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (TSCRS) Annual Meeting.
